HAIR PRP TREATMENT

What is Platelet Rich Plasma ?
Platelet rich plasma, commonly referred to as "PRP", is is essentially an increased concentration of autologous platelets suspended in a small amount of plasma after centrifugation. Platelets are the clotting cells of our blood, but they also have great potential in enhancing hair growth.
How does PRP work ?
PRP contains cells called Platelets, that can cause growth of the hair follicles by stimulating the stem cells and other cells in the microenvironment of the hair follicle.
These special Platelet cells promote healing, accelerates the rate and degree of tissue healing and regeneration, responds to injury, and formation of new cellular growth.
The primary purpose of using PRP in hair restoration is to stimulate inactive or newly implanted hair follicles into an active growth phase.
Inside the Platelets are many intracellular structures such as alpha granules which contain clotting and growth factors that are eventually released during the healing and repair process.
Is PRP right treatment for me ?
PRP is very useful in treating Hair loss such as
-
Androgenic Alopecia which is a genetically determined type of hair thinning that typically occurs along the top of the head
How will i feel during PRP Therapy ?
-
A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient, just like a routine blood test. Once the blood is drawn it is then placed into a centrifuge. The centrifuge is a machine that spins the blood at high speeds in order to separate the blood into red blood cells and concentrated platelets. Once the blood is separated the red blood cells are discarded, and we are left with concentrated platelet rich plasma (PRP) which is ready to be used in the treatment process.
-
The Scalp at the affected site is cleansed.
-
Local Anaesthetic or Ring Block is given to minimize the pain of injection.
-
Multiple injections are given at the affected sites (Mesotherapy) or PRP can also be given using Dermaroller (Microneedling).
-
Post Therapy, Antibiotic is applied over the scalp to prevent infection.
What to expect after a PRP?
-
Slight Pain may be felt at the injection sites as the anaesthetic wears down.
-
Minimal bruising may occur which resolves within 4-5 days.
What results should i expect ?
-
Thickening of Hair
-
Decreased hair loss
-
Early regrowth and increased length of hair
When will I see the Results ?
Most patients need a series of treatments to see results. We recommend multiple sessions alternating with mesotherapy for best results.
After a series of treatments, patients usually say Hair loss has stopped and can feel increased hair density.
What are the possible side effects ?
-
Overall PRP is a safe option. there are no side effects.
-
There is no risk of allergic reaction because it is your own blood.
