What is SkinPolishing / Microdermabrasion ?
Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-invasive procedure that uses a spray of non-allergenic microcrystals to remove the outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells and reveal younger, healthier-looking skin.
How does Microdermabrasion work ?
To understand microdermabrasion, it's important to understand how skin works.
Your skin has three basic layers, and as you might expect, the outermost layer (the epidermis) is home to the oldest cells (many of them dead), while the deepest layer (the dermis) generates new cells. The hypodermis is in the middle, housing all of the young (but aging) cells. Simply put, microdermabrasion works to exfoliate your skin, removing dead cells from the epidermis and welcoming healthier cells to the surface.
Is Microdermabrasion right treatment for me ?
Microdermabrasion appeals to many as you can see more youthful skin without having downtime.
Uneven skin tone or texture.
Dark spots that can appear when acne starts to clear.
It improve the results gained from using anti-aging products as Microdermabrasion allows these products to penetrate the skin more easily.
How will i feel during Microdermabrasion ?
A handheld device is used that gently removes the top layer of skin. You may feel a sanding sensation, but this is not painful. It takes about 20 to 25 minutes to treat the entire face and about 10-15 minutes to treat the neck.
After the treatment, a moisturizer is applied.
What to expect after a Microdermabrasion?
Treated skin may be pink or red and slightly swollen. This tends to disappear within a day.
What results should I expect ?
Reduced blotchy patches that make the complexion dull and discoloured.
More radiant skin complexion and evens out skin tone
Removal of dead skin cells
Fresher, younger and with a silky smooth texture.
When will I see the Results ?
Most patients need a series of treatments to see results. To treat signs of aging, a dermatologist may treat a patient weekly, every two weeks, or monthly. We recommend between 4 and 8 session of treatment.
After a series of treatments, patients usually say they have smoother skin and a more-radiant complexion.
What are the possible side effects ?
Slightly red or pink skin which might be slightly swollen. This tends to disappear within a day.
In some cases, the skin can bruise, burn, sting, or become extremely sensitive to sunlight. These will go away without treatment.
If your skin tends to develop dark spots after acne clears or a skin injury heals, you may have a greater risk of developing more dark spots.
When microdermabrasion is performed by a dermatologist, risks are minor.
